Be the Church

Each year Lawson UMC joins with other churches in the community to Be the Church by going into the community on Sunday morning to meet various needs of people rather than have Sunday services in the sanctuary.  This has also expanded to include three Saturdays a year with projects on a smaller scale to meet the ongoing needs of the people of the Lawson area.

Mission Trips

Mission Trips

Each year Lawson UMC provides the opportunity for youth and adults to be involved in a mission trip.  In 2008 the trip was to Colorado to a United Methodist Work Camp.  2009 saw a group of 20 go to the United Methodist Boy's Ranch in Gore, Oklahoma.  In 2010 we journeyed to Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Kentucky.  In 2011 we made the trip to Gulfport, MS to help repair homes that had been damaged by Hurricane Katrins.  In 2012 we have plans to go to Joplin, MO to help rebuild after the damage caused by the devastating tornado of 2011.

Nursing Home Services and Meals on Wheels

 

Nursing Home Services

Lawson UMC provides services at Lawson Manor on a rotating basis with other churches in the community and also delivers Meals on Wheels prepared at Lawson Manor each day for one month of the year.  In addition we provide services for other care facilities on an as needed basis.
